In my performances I research the relationship between myself as a person and  fundamental (sculptural) notions such as mass, volume, movement and duration.

I utilize the physical tension between myself and the spatial surroundings.

Because the process of the performance is essentially introvert, the presence of an audience is redundant and in fact unwanted.

I use a videocamera, fixed on a tripod, to make a real-time registration. The point of view is carefully chosen. Once the video is made the real performance has past, it is a single occurance. From that moment the only way to experience the performance is by watching the remaining video.

In a way there are two very independent phases, each with it’s own quality. The first one is the connection between me and the physical space. The second one is the connection between the video work and it’s audience.
It is clear that the experiences of the performer and this audience are completely different. To optimize the connection between these experiences, the medium must be as transparent as possible.

In technical as well as in conceptual terms, I am looking for ways to improve this relation.

The work Om (2012) is presented in the same space as where the original performance took place. This spacial relation contributed clearly to the way the work was experienced by visitors.

The work On (2013) is a continuation of the project, performed and presented in a another space.

Both works were created at Pictura, Dordrecht.
