Marquard Smith

Marq Smith is an enthusiastic, creative and rigorous academic, writer, editor, curator, commissioner and programmer with 20 years experience working between higher education and cultural institutions including the ICA, Tate, and the Whitechapel Gallery, London.

Marquard Smith is currently research associate at Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam. 

Previously he was Research Leader and Head of Doctoral Studies in the School of Humanities at the Royal College of Art. He is also editor-in-chief of Journal of Visual CultureBefore this Marq was Founding Director of the Institute for Modern and Contemporary Culture at University of Westminster. Formerly he was co-director of the Visual and Material Culture Research Centre and Head of Public Programmes in the Faculty of Art, Design, and Architecture, Kingston University, where he was also founding editor of KIOSK, a magazine of art, design and architecture.
